Internet Archives, Oldest Website and Domain
Ever wondered what does yahoo.com looked like 13 years ago or the first time google.com existed? Then the Way BackMachine is your answer.

About The Way Back Machine:
“Browse through 85 billion web pages archived from 1996 to a few months ago. To start surfing the Wayback, type in the web address of a site or page where you would like to start, and press enter. Then select from the archived dates available. The resulting pages point to other archived pages at as close a date as possible. Keyword searching is not currently supported.”
This site can also be a very powerful tool for research on almost everything. I was able to use this to find an article from now defunct www.studentartcontest.com. You also pinpoint to a certain date (if available).

I also found out that the oldest webpage is “http://nxoc01.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html”, the site is not anymore available though, But you can find a 1992 version of the site here. The oldest registered domain belongs to interestingly not to microsoft.com but to symbolics.com. It says here on their site:
Symbolics is currently a privately held company which acquired the assets and intellectual property of the old public company called Symbolics, Inc. The old Symbolics was the premier producer of special-purpose computer systems for running and developing state-of-the-art object-oriented programs in Lisp. It designed and built workstations as well as writing a fully object-oriented operating system and development environment called “Genera” to run on those workstations.
